Coloured Clouds, Zoe's second solo single, is a song born of deep self-reflection and brave confrontation of one’s own feelings through the colours of guilt (blue) and relief (purple). During the pandemic, a series of traumatic life events ripped Zoe away from her colours, including the “coloured clouds” she sees around people with her synaesthesia. The loss of her inner compass meant a period of confusion and hurt. Coloured Clouds was how she found her way back to herself.
"I just knew it had to be dark purple and blue, but I couldn’t confront
what the colours meant."
It took years for her colours and her “coloured clouds” to return. When she had the courage to face them, she rewrote the song to meet them properly, with lyrics describing her experience then, sung despondently,
“I’m lost without my coloured clouds. Just doubts.”
To allow her audience to experience the song visually, like herself, she made a synaesthesia animation music video (watch below), depicting everything she sees with Coloured Clouds.

poison
(solo debut single)

One of the hardest lessons I had to learn was to let go of a toxic relationship. This song is not about that. It’s about how I stubbornly decided to stay, trying to salvage and save the relationship.
For a year, I watched as the “poison”, stemmed from poor mental health, creep into every vestibule of him, growing into something of its own, until it finally took over completely and started looking outwards. Towards me.
Words lashing out like whips, dripping with venom, determined to cause hurt and confusion. I was in incredible pain and I needed a vessel big enough to hold it.
I was sitting on the floor of my Japanese apartment void of ideas and what to do, trying to stay sane. It was then I saw colours and shapes of the music. Then, words started appearing in my head, ‘Poison’ being the biggest one of them all. And finally, the floodgates opened and everything came frantically pouring out of me. That is what you’re hearing.
*Now, years later, i realise that the colours and words i saw while sat on the floor of my japanese apartment was my emotion-colour synaesthesia, begging to be heard.
